Why you need an EPC?

You need an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) because it provides important information about a property’s energy efficiency.

It gives the property an energy rating from A to G.

It helps buyers and tenants understand how energy-efficient the property is and what energy costs may be like.

An EPC is usually required when selling or renting out a property, although some exemptions apply.

It suggests ways to improve the property’s energy efficiency, such as better insulation or a more efficient heating system.

For landlords, when energy efficiency measures are put in place, ie loft top up, new boiler. It is best practice to get an updated EPC to boost your current Epc’s rating.

What does an Assessment involve and how long does it take?

An EPC assessment involves visiting the property to evaluate its energy efficiency. I will look at the building’s size, structure, insulation, windows, heating and hot-water systems, lighting, and any renewable energy features such as solar panels.

For most properties, an assessment will take 20-30 minutes to complete. I aim to complete the certificate and have it sent out to you within 24 hours of attending the property. The certificate can be sent out via email or alternatively I can send a link to the EPC register so you can view it.
